REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MAJOR IN PHILOSOPHY & RELIGION

  • PHRE 336 History of Philosophy I: Ancient

  • PHRE 337 History of Philosophy II: Modern

ONE OF:

  • PHRE 301 Christianity
    OR PHRE 302 Islam
    OR PHRE 303 Judaism
    OR PHRE 304 Religion and American Culture

AND ONE OF:

  • PHRE 310 The Hindu Tradition
    OR PHRE 311 The Buddhist Tradition
    OR PHRE 312 Japanese Religions
    OR PHRE 313 The Taoist Tradition
    OR PHRE 314 Chinese Religions

    OR PHRE 315 Yoga Traditions

Plus Major Electives:

Complete 15 hours of PHRE courses, as approved by advisor, to include at most one 100-level PHRE course.

 

AND the Capstone Experience: PHRE 475 Senior Seminar

(please note: this course is only offered in spring semesters)

 

Majors must complete the four required courses above (PHRE 336, 337, 30X, 31X).  If students have completed three of the four, they may be admitted to Senior Seminar by permission of seminar instructor and enrollment in the final required course concurrently.

 

In addition, Philosophy & Religion majors must also fulfill the following minimum requirements for graduation:

  • A 2.0 Truman grade point average.

  • A 2.0 major gpa

  • A 2.0 cumulative gpa
